Reorganising the School Week
From September 2017, we are proposing some changes to the way we organise the school week and the school year to help move the school further towards excellence. This includes three linked elements that would be introduced at the same time:
- Introducing a two-week October half-term holiday, in line with several local schools.
- Changing to a two-week timetable with 50 hour-long lessons over the cycle.
- Replacing INSET days with a programme of weekly staff training every Friday afternoon.
Below is a link to a document with further details of the proposals. I would very much welcome your thoughts either at the parents/carers meeting or via email. The parents/carers meeting is on Wednesday 22nd March at 5pm. All parents and carers are invited to attend. We will explain all the changes in detail and take any questions. As an alternative I would invite you to send in any comments or questions via email to firstname.lastname@example.org by Tuesday 28th March. This will feed into a Frequently Asked Questions document with answers that will be circulated to all parents.
I would stress that our current provision of after school activities would continue, including our independent study club Monday to Friday for any student who wishes to stay in school after lessons finish.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts, whether in email form or at the meeting on the 22nd March.
