John Downton Award for Young Artists: WINNERS!
The John Downton Award for Young Artists is an annual exhibition which encourages and celebrates the creativity of Kent's young artists. It is open to students, aged 11 to 18, from schools and colleges across Kent.
The award is hosted by us on behalf of the John Downton Trust. The exhibition commemorates the life and work of John Downton, the celebrated Kent artist, poet and philosopher.
A number of Howard School students were entered for the exhibition, and we were delighted that our students received the following awards:
Lydia Evans: Gold Award (age 17-18 category)
Jake Knights: Photography Award (age 11-16 category)
Huge congratulations to all the students who had their work entered, especially Lydia and Jake, and to our Art department, especially Ms Pasierkiewicz.
An exhibition of shortlisted work will be shown at County Hall in Maidstone from 23 October to 4 December 2017.
Visitors will have the chance to vote in the People’s Choice Award and the result will be announced at the end of the exhibition. Selected works will be part of the Turner Contemporary in Margate from 13 December 2017 to 21 January 2018.
